With so many neat projects I think I might have to quit my job so I can spend more time building. I knew I should have stuck to the armor board. Coming over here has given me tooooooooo many tasty projects I want to build.
One thing that is for sure I need to get a permanent set up for my workbench.

Michael, have you seen these at U-Model?
Mark,
thanks for the link
They are very nicely scultured figures .
I think with the PT and the S boot need crews at their stations manning the guns in action .
This will give the modeller an opportunity to create movement with a boat on a dio.or free standing .
Big as it may be(the dio) I would like to see the manufacturers creating the figures to fit in the gun positions on the pt boats ready for action .
With the likes of Masterbox and Dragon having crews manning field pieces and in action is a great start .
I do hope U model venture into taking a leap forward and be the first for bringing out gun crews for the Pt and S boot .
Happy modelling
Michael

Sounds like a replay of their Elco release which I currently have in my kit stash along with a TianJie S-100.
Have been holding for the new Italeri kit to make some masters for the poorly made or less than detailed parts found in the TJ kit which will be built as an earlier high forecastle S-26 or S-38. All will be RC for a nice little Med or Channel fleet in the local lakes.

My sentiments exactly, Carl...we saw the complete kit at Nuremberg '08, so the molds are done, and (quite possibly) the kit could be in production as we speak, and Italeri could be holding off release to build interest, as with the Elco...time will tell!

Here's the official news from Italeri's export sales manager who I met yesterday the Shanghai Hobby Expo:
Italeri will release their new S-100 in September.
They displayed the first article sample of the hull. What I saw looked
VERY nice with riveting around the torpedo tubes & nicely molded features such as exhaust, intake & discharge ports in the hull, but was told final tooling revision work was being done before production starts this summer.
Here are a few photos to wet your appetite!

Looks very nice so far.
Does this scale out to 36-37"long? Think this was the longest of the torpedo boats of ww2.
Cheers!

More news for you gents... I had the pleasure of sitting down with their sales manager & told her they should consider a mid S38 open bridge mod kit for those of us who want something besides the late skull cap version. Same could be said for other arms options: dwilling, vierling, torps, mines, etc... She seemed genuinely interested & asked I follow up with my suggestions & in an email which will be going out today.

For those interested in the subject The Wheatcroft Collection has acquired S130 the last remaining S-boat and will be fully restoring it back to its original configuration. The restoration can be followed on the site at

The S-100 klasse boats were 34.9 meters long. This works out to 129 feet, which is a little over 44 inches in 1/35. Not quite as big as the 1/72 Gato, but quite impressive none the less. The problem will be convincing the wife. She got quite tired of sharing our kitchen table with the Italeri Elco which is a mere 28 inches.

Hmm, looks like it is time to go hit the Megabucks Jackpot so I can afford both PT and S Boote as well as a house big enough to have a shelf that long to show them off. Now if some enterprising individual would come up with a Fairmile as well as a Vosper, that would be time to uncork the champagne.

All my sources say the S-100 class was 35 meters length overall.
Since the stated scale is 1/35 the math becomes REAL simple.
35 divided by 35 is 1.
The model should be a meter long, or 39.37 inches if you prefer.
Do not know where I am going to put the thing, but I'll get one for sure!

Another one for the stash!!!
And I have to agree that any of the Fairmile's or a Vosper would be nice (for the new home!!!!)

The question is: Do I get it or put gas in the car twice?
