Ahoy mates!

It's getting exciting here at MSW. DDD2 is coming to a close, Gunny's PT boat campaing is getting ready to kick off and the Riverine campaign is building steam.

I know October is a ways off, but how is everyone progressing with their builds?

Sound off mates.

Ahoy Kenny

Spent time on the IJN Isuzu again in the last couple of days.

I think its looking pretty good for my second 1/1700 ship even if I do say so myself.

I am certainly enjoying it and having fun.

Setting up and checking subassemblies. Found some more little things to do darn I thought I had done them but that’s all part of the fun.

Not very far of at all from laying some paint on it.

Regards

Sean

As you have seen the Butler is constructed, I added the ship boat and davits, some anchors and have been working on fabricating a chain for it- no luck so far. the twisted and crimped wire didnt work- I even tried spreading the links and weaving in another wire. Also tried carving from various stuff- a few more to try. Also I think i can exstapolate ms 36/11d from undated usn photos.

Howdy fellas,

I don't suppose there is a site with pics of some of the ships that played a role in this campaign is there?
I know there were quite a few involved, but maybe a site with pics of the major players?
Just thought I'd ask.....curious to see if there's anything interesting that I could maybe hit our good member gator up for a 'custom' mask.

Hey Tread,

Here's a Leyte Gulf website that has a list of all the warships present.

Battle of Leyte Gulf

As far as photos go, NavSource would be your best bet for USN ships.

Howdy Gator

Thx for taking the time to respond. I have in fact checked out both of the sites you so kindly supplied and have come away with at least a couple of possibilities so far {the submarines Blackfish & Drum for starters}, but nothing that might require one of your most intriguing masks.....

Although, I'm still holding out hope for something............

Hey Tread,

I like the idea of a sub entry. The Darter and the Dace were the first ships to sight the Japanese and start the battle.

Howdy gator,

Yeah, I had actually thought of the Darter first, but I liked the twin 20 mikemikes on the Drum, and the fact that the ship is still on display right up to today!

Right now the idea of entering the Campaign is still just that...an idea. But I am intrigued by Revell's new Gato offering

Hi Kenny, is there a gallery set-up for photos of the finished entries?

As Tama is now complete, photos will be taken and uploaded when I get home from work. Now shall I start another?
How about Ise before the half carrier mod. when she was still a complete battleship and looked so so much better.

Ciao

ahoy maties,

i haven't been very active last few months, just too much on my plate. I spent the early few weeks of the year clearing up my old projects. Productivity is seriously down at my workbench whilst I stay tuned to the Cricket World Cup now. I tend to have more time in april and may, will definitely put in a burst of building then.

Ok, Gator, things are starting to come together a bit now...had a little time last night before supper to mask off the lower hull of my Independance, and shoot the primer and base coat of my three part measure scheme...got my mask plan sorted out for the final two colors, just waiting for the paint to cure to move on! (can't wait to try yer masks out, bro...I've always done measures the hard way, but I do believe that my eyes have been re-opened with yer mask system, mate!) As soon as I get something interesting to look at, I'll snap a couple of in paint progress pics to share with ya...
Cheers,

Excellent Gunny. Masks make painting easier. I'm working on a 1967 Ford Shelby GT. According to the specs, the stripes down the top taper. Pre-cut masks are the way to go.

Just noticed that I had forgotten to add my pictures to the folder.
Just did so.
