Hi Kenny,

More time at work this weekend but I did manage to get a few hours in on Sunday. A little bit of paint and glue applied to the Ise, also some filler around the hull joints, she is starting to look like a battleship

Now I must get some more paint so I can do the USS Cleveland next as well as the MTB/MGB's I have planned for the MSS campaign starting on the 1st April.

Ciao

Ahoy Gator!
Pretty productive weekend, using my Gators Paint Mask on my Leyte Gulf entry, the Independance, in a measure 32 8/A scheme, looking F.I.N.E. fine so far...in between colors, worked on some back-logged book and product reviews for MSW...all in all, a good weekend!

No ships. I was working on my Kate trying to fix some spiderwebbing that showed up after I added a gloss coat. Still haven’t gotten rid of it all but I did manage to snap off the back wheel.

Hi Kenny

No bench time at all in the weekend sorry to say.

The whole weekend was consumed with my kids sport.

I am aiming to do some more on the IJN Isuzu shortly. I am so close to being ready for paint its just a joke.

Regards

Sean

Sorry to here that David. I spent all day Friday getting things ready for Houston on Saturday and all day Sunday on the couch with a sinus migrane. We woke up Sunday and every oak tree in the yard decided to drop its blossoms. I hate allergies.

got some work done on Fletcher destroyer, at this moment, I will end up with DD569, USS Aulick. Removed chocks from deck, intending to relocate them, lost them, scratched a couple, and glued them back on. Started on deck level structures and bridge, just counting the number of doors I need before I glue them on. could have done more if not for flu...

Nothing. I was in Italia last week. Beautiful country. Monday, I was wedged into a airplane seat flying over the Atlantic. On the bright side of that flight, I did manage to spot an iceberg off Greenland. That was cool.

Hi Guys,

Reporting in late for parade. Got 2 of my M4A1s done and made a complete mess of the other which is now back on the workbench.

Got some figures started, the new RN guy from Jakeri, coming along well. BTW keep an eye out for more interesting stuff. Was talking some ideas with Pete and he has some interesting figures planned for the future. I'm a happy bunny anyway

Got a little painting on the Lighthouse done, awesome build and will be great fun to paint.

Some more work on the Tilly, but have been a bit idle there.

Cheers

Al

JBA,
Absolutely great looking dio you've started.
What did you use for the water (surf)?
Looks fantastic.

thanks Kenny and Gary -the water is a picture with flash and doesn't look too good, but basically, I sculpted a "sea" out of foam-cardboard + plaster as a seal + Magic Sculp to do the details + thick acrylic gel to do some waves texture.
Then I did a mold out of silicon (damn heavy price!), then I poured some tinted polyester resin -several coats more or less blended.
Once set I created a bit of ripples with a yellowy-white tinted acrylic gel -and so it is.
But I will add one polyester resin layer or three today to add a bit of color variation and to create some sense of depth above the current waves -so that I can add another layer of waves above

WOW JB,
Thanks for sharing the process for the waves.
Your results are awesome.
I've tried casting with resin a couple of times without much luck so I'm envious of your results.
Looking forward to seeing it all put together.
Your dios tell such great stories.
Best regards,
Gary

Why thanks JB,
but your various dios using water are truly much more artist
and what I like best is that the scenes all instantly convey a story.
The rolling surf and the derelict boat instantly let your imagination
take the boat on its journey of deterioration.
Beautiful.
Best regards,
Gary

thanks much Gary -I am very happy that it takes your imagination somewhere.. that's the point actually, the very whole point. It must have a deep meaning for me and make the viewer's imagination wander. I hope that this one will be an improvement over all the others!!
here's what that dio looked like 10 minutes ago outside.. Not much left to do except painting the kid and a few overall color corrections
that makes me in advance for the next monday rep

thanks much

JB,
Looks fantastic.
Can't wait to see more!
The surf looks terrific.
My wife and I try to get to Mexico once a year and your surf
reminds me of the beach south of Playacar.
Awesome!

Ahoy JBA,

Someone told me not to long ago, Joe.....you are still playing with toys at your
age.....

Well, JBA , you are one of those people who can prove to that someone, that
model building is not playing with toys at all.....

IT IS AN ARTFORM!

Yes Sir, you have done it again......a fine piece of art, mate!

Superb mon ami!

Cheers,
Joe

thanks a million for your support guys
Mexico waves i suppose not -the scale of this dio is quite small, the boat at is highest is hardly more than 4 inches high!
i still have to do more color corrections -especially on the boat till I post some good quality pics, those I have were taken in a rush in my backyard yesterday evening

Joe -toys nah.. i've got this too : "ah, you're still doing models?" that's the *still* which is really annoying art? hey, maybe in 20 years time for me
