MIG Productions has now turned it's head to the naval arena, and has produced one of the most exciting model releases of 2005! Their first naval production is the ferocious Soviet BK1125!
About the BK1125...

The Soviet BK1125 boat was used between 1939 and 1945 in all European fronts, from Austria in 1945 to Stalingrad...in all rivers. This armoured ship was used like a tank in a river, in fact Bronekater (BK) means armoured ship. The ship was specially designed to carry different turrets, specially T34, T28 turrets and Dushka turrets. The normal tank factories produced the same turrets for tanks and ships.

The Soviets used these ships in frontal attacks against land-based tanks and enemy infantry. These ships were armed with Katiusha rockets and T34 turrets - the effect was terrifying. The BK ships were also used for carpet bombing fortifications or cities (Vienna in Austria was bombed by these ships).

The BK had 10 crew, all of them naval personnel.

The BK ships were transported by train to move the units from a river to other, it was therefore specifically designed to enter tunnels and cross bridges aboard wagon trains - this lends itself to the possibility of a mammoth diorama!

The Kit...

Contents of kit include 3 sturdy castings which combine with 3 separate deck pieces to form the full hull of the ship. The superstructure casting is topped with a fully detailed pilot house, the interior of which is visible through the doorways with separate doors. The T34 STZ turret has a separate hatch and gun barrel and the 3 detailed Dushka turrets also feature separate gun barrels.

Individual resin stantions are detailed with full-length thread cables and metal chains. The resin anchor is also combined with a metal chain to the accurate anchor crank shaft. The hull is surrounded by realistic wood grain bumpers and is detailed with portholes and hundres of raised
rivets.

Other separated detail parts include resin radio mast, alarm bell, search light, beacon light, life savers, ventilation ports, exhaust system, fire extinguishers, propeller screw, drive shaft and electrical grounding insulators. Sturdy wire is provided to detail the railings and electrical grounding system and fine copper wire is provided to detail the radio antenna.

The recommended retail price is €390.
