Aoshima has some very nice looking and welcome IJN vessels headed our way. No word on real details yet, but the CAD images of the "Chitose" have me hopeful that we may be looking at a new tool-kit.

Back in the bronze age of 1/700, the Big Four were Aoshima, Fujimi, Hasegawa and Tamiya. I always thought Aoshima lagged behind the others in quality in the 1970s, but have been impressed by their new models of the past few years. These are very welcome indeed!

I agree, and I get really excited when I see CAD images from them because there really isn't any reason to have them unless the kit is a new tool It's also nice to see older kits re-released with upgrade sets included, but I'm like you in that I prefer one of the other companies such as Tamiya. Tamiya's reboxed kits from the 1970's were what got me interested in model ships to begin with, and they are also part of what convinced me that I prefer 1/350 lol.
