She is One of the better know ships from World War II. She went down shortly after dropping off atomic bomb parts.
The U.S.S. Indianapolis CA-35 was used by the U.S. Navy in the Pacific War and it delivered the first operational atomic bomb. Torpedoed and sunk July 30, 1945, the Indianapolis is perhaps best remembered as the Navy's largest, single loss of life. There were just 317 survivors from a crew of 1,196.
