And now for something completely different. If you want to try a truely different kind of looking ship model then the Barracuda , from a Japanese TV animated series (anime, to those of us in the know) that origianlly aired in the late 1970s', may be just right for you.
Future Boy Conan is a post apocolyptic future story where after a devastating war the survivors are spread across different Pacific islands. The story centers on the exploits of an 11 year old boy named Conan.

Aoshima is releasing a kit of a sailing vessel from that series, the Barracuda. When completed the kit measures 245mm X 165mm (9.6" X 6.4"). The kit (No. AOS00946) is slated for a December 2014 release and Dragon USA has announced the price of the kit at $54.99 (US) while the Aoshima website lists the kit for 3200 yen, or @$30.00 (US) so your final price will be determined specific retailers.
