Tamiya surfaces it’s I-400 kit again, this time with new features in a limited edition release.
The largest submarine in service of the Second World War, the I-400 was over 400 feet long and had kept the largest submarine in the world title until 2nd generation nuclear submarines were launched. Their one operational combat mission, to bomb the Panama Canal, was never carried out as the war formally ended while two of the boats were in route.

This release features photo etch details of hand rails and tracks, a dolly for the Aichi M6A Seiran float plane, four torpedoes with a display rack and a pedestal for the Seiran.

Also the coning tower is molded in clear plastic to display stowed Seirans (kit comes with 3 of them) in their watertight hanger.

The kit (No. 89776) has a November 1st release data and a suggested retail price of @$58.00 (US) plus shipping.
