Another 'D-Day Series- Normandy 1944/2014' limited edition kit from Italeri to join their LCVP release. This landing craft was used extensively by US and British navies during the Second World War to transport wheeled vehicles, lightweight armour and materials from ship to shore
Over 8000 LCM model 3 landing craft were produced, being built in numerous shipyards in the USA from 1942 up to the end of the conflict. It would later be used by western allies of the United States up until the 1980s.

There were two designs of the LCM(3) variant . One was by US the Navy's Bureau of Construction and Repair that could carry 120,000 lb (54,000 kg) of cargo. The other was by the Higgins Industries design that had a crew of 4 and could carry one 30-ton M4 tanks, 60 troops, or 60,000 lb (27,000 kg) of cargo. They were similar in appearance to the LCVP with a 10-foot (3.0 m) wide load area at the front and a small armoured (1/4 inch steel) wheelhouse on the aft decking over the engine room.

A Higgins LCM-3 is on display at the Battleship Cove maritime museum in Fall River, Massachusetts.

This kit(No 38436) has 3 crew figures and 6 troops. The landing ramp can be built up or down and has marking for 2 different craft. Depending on the relailer, this kit can be from approximately $69.00 to $79.00 (US) plus shipping.
