A new waterline kit of the Royal Navy's most active early war carrier.
Designed in 1934 to fit the restrictions of the Washington Naval Treaty, Ark Royal was built by Cammell Laird and Company Ltd. at Birkenhead, England, and completed in November 1938. Her design differed from previous aircraft carriers. Ark Royal was the first ship on which the hangars and flight deck were an integral part of the hull, instead of an add-on or part of the superstructure. Designed to carry a large number of aircraft, she had two hangar deck levels. She served during a period that first saw the extensive use of naval air power; a number of carrier tactics were developed and refined aboard Ark Royal.

She met her fate early in the war on 13 November 1941 by the German submarine U-81 near Gibraltar.

This kit (No. AOS010181) is expected to be released in early January 2015 with an estimated sale price of $46.99 (US).

About time! Although Michael you did have me going, I was getting ready to sell everything so I could buy one if it had been 1/350. Lets hope that they follow it up with a larger scale version

I still have my Revell Ark Royal from the 1970s! So I would love this kit and look forward to it. 1/700 is A-OK by me!

Yeah, I'd really like a 1/350 scale of a WWII British carrier. I've been considering Heller's 1/400 Illustrious kit. And I'd like to see other manufactures come out with Fairey Albacores and Barracudas in 1/48 scale. And I had the old Revell kit that Fred had mentioned, when I was a kid. I can still remembering admiring the tiny elliptical wings of the tiny seafires that came with it. Fred, what scale would you say the Revell kit is?
