Thanks to a hot tip from Jim Rae, news about a new model manufacturer, based in Spain, Das Werk Miniatures, is the highlight today!

This new company, founded by modellers with the only intention to give modellers different subjects with the most accurate details and an important goal to reach: every kit must be easy to build.

The company has been created by two modellers with different experience levels. First of all, the master modeller Jorge López, who has been awarded around the world for his scratch-built models, and Paco Bofarull, with years of experience in casting resin pieces of model kits.

Kit Details

DWM35400 German 'Linse' Boat

In the WWII the German Navy started to use demolition boats based on designs and experiences of WWI. They were mainly used on rivers and channels in sabotage actions, but due to limited success a completely new design was developed and introduced in 1944. These boats -called “Linse”- were faster and safer, and were used with some success against the allied invasion float in the Channel and also in the Mediterranean Sea around San Remo. They were also used in the Eastern front against enemy bridges.

The boats could be remote controlled from a commando boat or from an observation airplane. About 1200 units were built.

The kit is very easy to build with the entire hull made in one piece. The detonation ring is easy to prepare and the final look of the boat is very smooth and beautiful. Russian documentation was used by master builder Kovacs Laszlo to make the pattern of this fast boat.

Checkj out this new kit and other great products at the official company website, and remember, When contacting vendors, tell em you saw it on the pages of Model Shipwrights!
