First reported in March as coming from Niko Model, a 1/700 waterline kit of an H-class destroyer under the name HMS Hardy. This kit is to released in the coming weeks and Niko has more images of the kit and its instruction.
The kit's title is of the HMS Hardy, 1940, the lead ship of H-class destroyers, During the Spanish Civil War of 1936–1939 the ship spent considerable time in Spanish waters, enforcing the arms blockade imposed by Britain and France on both sides of the conflict. Hardy was transferred to Freetown, Sierra Leone, in October 1939 to hunt for German commerce raiders in the South Atlantic with Force K. After returning to the United Kingdom in early 1940, the ship became flagship of the 2nd Destroyer Flotilla assigned to the Home Fleet. During the Norwegian campaign of 1940, Hardy participated in the First Battle of Narvik where she sank one German destroyer. As the British ships were withdrawing, they were discovered by two other German destroyers that so badly damaged Hardy that she had to be run aground to stop her from sinking. The ship was lifted by a rising tide and eventually capsized.

This kit (No. 7091) is available for pre-order at the Martola Model Shop website and is listed for €35.68 ($39.17 US) plus shipping.

Nice! A Flotilla leader, (the extra 4.7" between the funnels), about time. Really nice choice of subject. Si

What is the general consensus on Niko models? Because I got the 1/350 USS Taney and it has tooling marks on the second deck, and a superstructure section has some shrinkage. The shrinkage can be fixed with styrene strip and putty. The tooling marks are a different story as much of it is beside raised deck details. This is not an "isolated incident" as all castings of this part would have the same flaws. For me, this was not an inexpensive model as I really got screwed with duty and sundry fees and taxes, costing nearly $150 CAN. NOT PLEASED!

Biggles I can't comment on the USS Taney but I have the Cicogna and YMS-419 which are both beautiful little kits, the YMS includes a wooden deck and neither show signs of tool marks or shrinkage that I've found. The Taney is on my wish list for future purchase so I'll take note. Back to the news in question, a nice little ship just a shame for me that it's in the wrong scale.

Hi Biggles, Back when I built 1/700th I built the ORP Conrad and HMS Garland, no issues with the quality of either kit. Si
