Announced for July 2015 release is the Imperial Japanese Navy superbattleship Musashi “Ultimate Kit” in 1/700 scale.
Model Factory Hiro is best known for its car models and accessories, but this second of their ship releases is an impressive effort, promising to be the most detailed rendering of the famous battleship ever. Apparently a follow-on to their 1/700 “IJN Yamato Ultimate Kit” released back in November 2012 which was a “…multi-media masterpiece including parts made of cast resin, cast white metal, photo-etched metal, stainless steel, and UV-hardened resin,” the Musashi kit is described as, “…assembled from parts made of resin, white metal, photo-etched metal and possibly other materials.”
It isn’t clear exactly why yet another 1/700 scale Yamato/Musashi is needed, especially as Tamiya and Fujimi offer excellent, state of the art releases in plastic that are readily available at a fraction of the price. Still, if you are into exotic materials and cost is no object, this $300 kit may be just the thing for you.
This “Ultimate” Musashi can be ordered for Ą38,000 (approximately US$306.66!) from Hobbylink Japan.
