In development and based on representation in Howard Chapelle's book, The History Of American Sailing Ships, comes a new wood model of a ship from the service that would eventually become known as the United States Coast Guard.

Though its name has changed over the centuries, the "Revenue Marine" is the oldest continuous seagoing service of the United States. Created by Congress on 4 August 1790 at the request of and headed by then Secretary of the Treasury, Alexander Hamilton, had the duty of being the collector of customs duties in the nation's seaports. By the 1860s, the service was known as the U.S. Revenue Cutter Service and the term Revenue Marine gradually fell into disuse. The modern Coast Guard was formed by a merger of the Revenue Cutter Service and the U.S. Life-Saving Service on 28 January 1915, under the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
This kit by BlueJacket represents a vessel from the days of the Revenue Cutter Service and is to be part of their 'Ensign Series' of wooden ship models that is to be offered in two ways. First as an 'Ensign' kit with glue, paint, tools, etc which is typical for their Ensign line to make it an entry level wooden ship kit and also as a standard kit without glue and tools for experienced modelers who are assumed to have the required assembly tools. If that's successful then all the Ensign series kits will be sold with both options. The kit scale is 1/4" = 1'.
BlueJacket states "We have spent a lot of time to draw all the deck details so the new modeler will be proud of his creation. Proper nibbing, treenails, deck furniture frames etc. are all lasered into the deck."
A finished kit can be purchased for $1,450 US or as a kit for: $145. The 'Ensign' kit including paint and tools is $190.00. Shipping is fees are applicable to all versions.
This kit can be purchased from the Blue Jacket Ship Crafters webstore.
