Aoshima of Japan has announced AOS00933, a tiny 1/2000 scale version of the U.S. Navy battleship USS New Jersey (BB-62) as she appeared during World War Two.
According to Hobbylink Japan, the “Tiny but detailed kit builds into either a full-hull or waterline model. Includes a display stand for the full-hull model”. This model is listed as a reissue from November 2013, but the kit actually goes back to the 1980s when it was first released by Bandai. At about five inches in length it is a very small model, but it is surprisingly detailed – and at two bucks, it is a great deal!
Other ships in the series include:
USS Missouri (1945)
USS Lexington CV-2
USS Enterprise CV-6
USS Essex CV-9
HMS Illustrious
HMS Hood
DKM Tirpitz
The little New Jersey can be ordered for ¥240 (approximately US$2.00) from Hobbylink Japan.
