Though this is mostly an aircraft related story I still thought it worth mentioning here that America's oldest continuous service is observing a centennial anniversary of its aviation branch. This year marks 100 years of US Coast Guard aviation.
On April 1st, 1916, 3rd Lt. Elmer Stone reported to flight training marking the day US Coast Guard Aviation began. That same year, the First US Coast Guard Aviation group was formed.

Various events will be held commemorating this anniverasary around the United States and can be found on the Coast Guard Aviation Centennial site.

This article from Helis.com shows how a few HH-60J Jayhawk helicopters have been 'retro-ed' by painting them chrome yellow as the earliest of the USCG's helicopters were when they first went into service.
