Launched in 1909, the USS Utah was one of two Florida Class battleships. This class was the first class to be fully fitted with steam turbine engines. Utah and her sister Florida deployed US Marines in the Battle of Veracruz in 1914 and Utah performed convoy escort duty during World War I. Sunk during the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, her battered hull serves as a memorial to those sailors who were killed aboard her.
This resin full-hull kit (No 4-243) has the option to build the Utah in her AG-16 designation (radio controlled target ship) when she was converted to that role in 1931.

This kit is to include photo etch details and detailed instructions when it becomes available. Iron Shipwrights is shooting for an early March release.

It looks beautiful, but these resin kits are outside my price range.

A hunk of resin like this with more resin details and PE, plus a very manual process in casting does make for expensive kits. That's why I look at these kits as the 'main' or 'centerpiece' of a collection because they are rather rare kits considering how many are made. Also at the moment I believe Iron Shipwrights is still honoring a 25% off current stock offer.

I will be following this build, the early Battleships just have something special about them, the they were built.

Looks like a solid representation Michael! I am interested to see the PE shots and instructions when they become available.

Looks like a beautiful kit. My late father served on the USS Utah and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. Very tempting. I've never built a resin kit before, wouldn't know where to begin, and actually haven't built anything in quite some time due to vision issues. Still, it would be a great kit to have--I've been hoping for a kit of the Utah for years.
