ŘOP o.s.(Samek) models of the Czech Republic has released kit S350/001, a Japanese midget submarine Type A KO-Hyoteki (1941).
The kit contains resin and photo-etched parts to make the 1941 version of the 80 foot KO-Hyoteki midget submarine. It also includes a gypsum base for creating a small diorama which is apparently intended to depict Ensign Sakamaki’s KO-Hyoteki HA-19 grounded on the East side of Oahu after the Pearl Harbor attack. Very cool!

The completed 1/350 scale model length is about 34mm. Contains 4 resin parts, 13 photo-etched parts, and 1 gypsum diorama base.

The KO-Hyoteki Midget Submarine can be ordered for ¥3,240 (approximately US$28.00) from Hobbylink Japan.

Very cool!? YES! The models look great and that base - I wonder if this is the same type of Hyoteki that grounded on Guadalcanal? $28 - I'll take one.

Yes, the Pearl Harbor Ko-Hyotekis were of the same class as those deployed to Guadalcanal as well as the ones that attacked Sydney Harbor and Diego Suarez. The configurations of the sheet metal guards around the torpedo tubes and forward of the conning tower were a little different, but with a little effort you could easily make any of them from this kit.
