Round 2 models has announced the March 2016 re-release of kit HL429, Lindberg models USS Hazard (AM-240) Admirable-class minesweeper in 1/125 scale.
According to Round 2:

This re-issue from Lindberg presents the U.S.S. Hazard (AM-240) Admirable-class minesweeper. Minesweepers were used extensively during WWII to escort larger craft as well as patrol duties. The Hazard earned three battle stars during the war where she escorted convoys from San Francisco to Pearl Harbor before sweeping the waters of Okinawa near the war’s end. She also performed post-war duties around Korea and Japan. She now sits as a museum in East Omaha, Nebraska. The kit features every detail of the vessel and includes water slide decals and a pictorial instruction sheet.

•DETAILED WWII SHIP KIT

•INCLUDES DETAILED FIGURES
•SKILL LEVEL 2, MOLDED IN GRAY
•17 1/2 INCHES LONG
•1:125 SCALE
•SKILL LEVEL 2
•PAINT & GLUE REQUIRED

I remember this kit from my childhood in the 1970s - it is typical vintage Lindberg with thick parts for toughness in operation (it came with an electric motor back then), simplified weapons, and of course Lindberg's trademark "brickwork" raised weld lines throughout. Interestingly, it also came with several very nicely done sailor figures. It built into a basic but reasonable model to cruise the local pond (although as I recall it was rather vulnerable to BB gun fire...)

It is nice to see this classic kit back on the shelves again - especially with the evocative John Steel artwork on the box. This scrappy little minesweeper can be had for approximately US$30.00.

Cool! I was hoping this guy would come back into circulation. Now, if only someone would release an LST in 1:144... --Karl
