Round 2 has issued kit No. AMT892, a re-release of AMT’s 1/520 scale USN aircraft carrier USS Akron (ZRS-4) or USS Macon (ZRS-5) plastic model kit from 1976.
According to Round 2:

“The U.S.S. Akron and U.S.S. Macon were never as widely known as the iconic Hindenburg, but they each served America well as air born aircraft carriers. The gigantic rigid airships matched Hindenburg’s mass. They served in reconnaissance missions for the US Navy. Unfortunately like their German counterpart, they suffered similar tragic fates. This kit from AMT brings back the kit that allows builders to choose between creating the two Navy airships.

Scale: 1/520
Skill Level: 2 (ages 10 and up)
Nearly 18” long
Includes display cradle
Thorough decal sheet
Simple construction
Made in USA

The model comes with a display cradle and decal sheet that includes both ships’ markings”.

This classic kit is re-released in its original form with the same vintage box art, a facsimile of the original instruction sheet, and apparently no alteration of the kit plastic parts. The one improvement I did notice Round 2 made was to the decals, which, while remaining true to those of the original 1976 issue, are noticeably improved.

The U.S.S. Akron or U.S.S. Macon Navy Airship is pretty widely available for about US$30.00.
