A 'Sperrbrecher' is a German auxiliary ship that was used mostly as a mine sweeper in both the First and Second World Wars. They essentially sailed in front of other ships and cleared the way by detonating mines in their path. A waterline is now available of one of these vessels as fitted out in the Second World War.
The subject of this kit (No 7097) is of Sperrbrecher 13, a ship that first began life under the name Minerva. She was launched in 1938 and became a Sperrbrecher in 1940 and managed to survive the war.
This kit is typical of NIko's fine 1/700 resin kits that include a fret of PE details. Apparently Sperrbrecher 13 was one of the more colorfully camouflaged vessels in Kriegsmarine so if you want something to stand out among you gray panzerschiffes and destroyers, this is your kit. It is currently listed at L' Arsenal for 48.95 € ($54.00 USD) plus shippint.
