OLD MODEL KITS has entered the realm of new model kits with their launch of a 1/350 SS NORMANDIE!
After 9 years of development and fine tuning, OMK has announced their big project.

OMK writes;
We have received exclusive world-wide license for a 1/350 Normandie from the French Lines! I believe this is the most accurate kit every made of this ship.

Detail about the model includes:
The kit consists of over 1,100 individual parts:
Resin upper and lower hulls. Can be built waterline or full hull.
Resin funnels, lifeboats and other details
One photoetched brass sheet for the davits
One photoetched brass sheet for other ships details (railings, etc)
Real wooden deck (printed and laser cut-out from Scale Decks)
      Full color, screened decal sheet
Flag sheet for the maiden New York voyage

One CD with highly detailed and extensively illustrated instructions. This includes rigging diagrams, painting guide, reference material, building tips and more

This model is 100% new. The Normandie kit designer is an IPMS National award winner and was a beta-tester for the current edition of TURBO-CAD. He took 7 years to create the computer model. These ground-breaking files were primarily responsible for TURBO-CADs decision to go with a 64 bit release. Furthermore, these files are used in TURBO-CAD advertising, promotion and hands-on factory training.

Wood decking, railings and everything to the smallest detail were prototyped and are manufactured directly from this master file. The result is excellent parts fit for a resin model.

The silicon molds were made from 3D printed prototypes for the highest accuracy. The mold silicone was de-aired. Resin casting of the hull and details is done in a pressure chamber. The result is a large improvement over regular poured resin parts. These castings are nearly (but not completely) air-bubble free.

As always, resin and photoetched kits are only recommended for experienced modelers.

A preview feature is in the works for this incredible model.

Wow very nice. I was tempted until I saw the price, plus shipping and duty unfortunately makes this out of reach for me.

Do I understand that this is a built up model for $950? Certainly that can't be the kit price!!! There doesn't seem to be any listing for a kit price-- if that's the kit price I doubt they will sell many of these. VR, Russ

Considering the 950USD price for the unbuilt kit, it is worth looking at a scratch build job for this magnificent vessel. Considering how simple and aerodynamic her lines are, this is not as formidable a task as it would be for say, the Queen Mary. --Karl

It looks very nice, but $950, no thanks. Si

$950USD! Wow! Altough it's good to see a new passenger liner in 1/350 that's my entire years modelling allowance gone in one swoop! Too rich for my blood!

That is a stiff price tag right there! Certainly museum quality. I think I would venture a go with Blueridge's 1/700 version at $250 (and still a bit pricey) before forking out that kind of cash. Impressive just the same!
