Vessel History

"Created as part of a plan to attack major cities in the United States and the Panama Canal, the three I-400 class large aircraft carrier submarines were quite technologically advanced.

Featuring an extremely long range and heavily armed with both torpedoes and deck guns, they were also equipped with catapults to launch their three Aichi M6A Seiran aircraft.

While on their way to attack the Panama Canal, the submarines were ordered to attack the Allied naval base at Ulithi instead. However, hostilities ended before any attack could be launched.

After surrendering to U.S. forces, the I-400 was eventually sailed to Hawaii, where they were studied and then scuttled."

Glad to see it's 1/350. Although still too small for my eyes. I wonder if we'll eventually see a 1/72 scale Japanese fleet sub from Revel Germany.

That would be huge!

Nice.... Although I'm with Dave on this I would like to see Revell do thier fine work on sub's from the world, a Jap fleet sub would be nice but also a British Triton class or Upholder and Italian Marcello class to go along with the U-boat's and Gato that they have done. Just my 0.02pence worth Ciao Luciano

Lindberg has a 1/72 C-1 and C-3, but to my knowledge they are of far less quality than the Revell subs in 1/72 http://www.lindberg-models.com/models-in_the_water.html
