Model Monkey is happy to announce new products for US Navy warships that were released for October:
A set of 36 Ready Service Ammunition Lockers for 20mm Oerlikon cannons is now available in 1/350 scale.

Although there were many variations, the kind modeled here is one of the most common of the larger types: 62" (~158cm) long x 24" (~61cm) wide x 26.5" (~67cm) high, not including stand.

A set of 36 Ready Service Ammunition Lockers for 5"/25 cal. anti-aircraft guns, 1941-1942 - type, is now available in 1/350 scale for battleships, aircraft carriers, cruisers, etc.

The set is composed of 24 single lockers and 12 double lockers. Although there were variations, this type of locker, with sloped doors and external heat radiator plates, appears in several post-December 7, 1941 photos of salvage operations of sunken battleships at Pearl Harbor.

Modernized SCB-125 islands for the Essex class aircraft carriers USS Intrepid CVS-11 and USS Oriskany CVA-34 as they appeared circa 1968-1973, during the latter part of the Vietnam War, are now available in 1/700 scale. Each design has features unique to the ship such as the shape of decks and catwalks, catwalk supports, splinter shielding and associated venturi (wind deflectors), shape of radar platforms, configuration and routing of exterior piping and cabling, flag locker number and orientation, shape of camera station, door and porthole number and position, etc.. The islands are not the same.

Sets of Fighting Tops for pre-war Lexington class aircraft carriers and Pensacola and Northampton class heavy cruisers are now available in 1/700 scale and 1/350 scale. The designs feature the correct shape and have open windows and doors with delicate framing. Most model kits' fighting tops are inaccurately shaped and/or have solid windows and doors.

You can also get the complete torpedo tubes with integrated breech doors, turntables and slides as well as torpedo warhead inserts in six popular scales.

Steve Larsen of Model Monkey has been producing some awesome upgrades for these old Revell classic kits! Steve, if you are reading, might I suggest trying some "comprehensive" upgrade sets containing those elements commonly needed for these kits? For example, the Revell Essex kits all need help with the islands (which you have been doing wonderfully!), but they also could use some better life raft racks along the flight deck, flight deck service vehicles, AA guns, directors, ship's boats, etc. Most of us won't be doing multiples of the same class, but I for one would be willing to spend a little more to better outfit a single unit... In any case, thanks, and keep up the good work!

These upgrades do open a whole new range of kits again. It is one thing to build nostalgically, but with some simple upgrades, the old kits almost stand toe to toe with current offerings...when there are any! LOL I am sure Steve is listening!!

Thanks so much! I hear you both! More products definitely coming. Available now are Mk.56 and Mk.37 directors perfect for the Revell kits. 3"/50 cal. mounts are in the queue. I'll add the life raft racks to the queue. Ships boats may be done in 2018. Here's the present queue in the post below:
