At least Adler's Nest have kept their prices realistic, unlike a certain other brass manufacturer. Still more expensive than turned brass lamp necks, though.

Several years ago I had a series of commission builds for a customer who wanted brass display finials (for five 1/350 battleships no less). That's ten finials. I was trying to figure out how I could get somebody to turn ten brass finials for me at a reasonable cost. One day I was walking through the plumbing section of my local Ace Hardware when I spied a selection of brass "stems" for faucets. $4.95 for a pair. They are gently fluted at the base, hollow, and have threads at the base which screw right into the wood. I bought everything they have-- problem solved. VR, Russ

Yes...I've used turned brass necks for lamps, such as these: LINK for less than you paid, but, admittedly, they are too large for most 1/700 ships. However they do look great on 1/350 models and are really cheap.
