Yamashita Hobby of Japan has announced the April 2018 release of kit YMS02039, the destroyer Ayanami (“Twilled Waves”) in 1/700 scale.

This kit is an updated version to replace Tamiya’s 1970s Water Line Series rendition of the Ayanami which, although accurate, is by today’s standards a little plain in detail. This new release has sharp, dense details similar to the ships in the Skywave/Pit Road series. The Ayanami was a unit of the second group of Tokugata (“Special Type”) destroyers built for the Imperial Navy.
