This appears to be a re-imagining of Pit-Road’s massive 1/35 scale 25mm Type 96 Triple machine gun mount issued in white metal back in the 1990s.
The original metal kit wasn’t bad, but this entirely new mold plastic version is even better! The Type 96 25mm Triple AA Machine Gun was electric powered, with Le Preiere sights also used by anti-aircraft guns. These guns were mounted on many Imperial Japanese Navy ships such as battleships, aircraft carriers, cruisers, destroyers, and auxiliary ships. The 1/35 scale model will be about 7.4cm long when assembled.

Also, Infini models offers an absolutely awesome brass etch and turned brass barrels upgrade set that will make it even better http://modelshipwrights.kitmaker.net/news/28822&mode=thread&order=0

The IJN Type 96 25mm Triple machine gun mount is listed by Hobbylink Japan at https://hlj.com/product/pitg-47/Nav and can be ordered for ¥3,150 (about US$30.00).

This looks like a very nice piece for a diorama. There are a few photos of the triple mount on land but something like the box art would also make a great action scene. It needs figures.

Wow-- Great subject! I agree with Russ though, we need some gunners for this beast. I also agree about the land based diorama aspect-- in fact, the photo Pit Road has used in the intro looks like it is a land based gun! Now why can't we get a mainstream manufacturer to do some U.S. or British type shipboard AA Weapons? VR, [the other] Russ

Russ, Back in the 1990s when Pit-Road released the metal versions of their single and triple 25mm kits, they also issued resin figures to go with them. Let's hope they re-release them to go with the new guns!

This should be an entire new category of kit - a hybrid genre of diorama/model kit, including full-interior 5" mounts, detailed British hedgehog launchers, etc. We can dream, can't we? Remember when the only 1/350 game in town was Tamiya's Yamato and Bismarck, and now you can't swing a cat without hitting a new 1/350 ship idea!
