Imperial Hobby Productions has announced the September 2018 release of their 1/700 scale rendition of the proposed Nos. 13-16 Class Japanese battleships.
Cancelled by the the Washington Treaty, the four Nos. 13-16 Class monsters were never built. Conceived by Admiral Hiraga (who had designed the Nagato class battleships, to which these would have borne a resemblance), they were to be 915 feet long, displace nearly 48,000 tons, and capable of 30 knots. They would have mounted eight eighteen-inch guns with a secondary battery of 16 5.5-inch casemate guns and four 5-inch antiaircraft guns, as well as eight torpedo tubes.

This is a complete resin kit with turned brass gun barrels based on the 1921 drawings of the never completed super battleship.

The Nos. 13-16 Class is listed by Hobbylink Japan at https://hlj.com/product/IHP270028 and can be pre-ordered now for about US$199.00.

Considering there is no dedicated PE, even though there are brass barrels, $199 USD is a very high pre-order price for a 1/700 kit. What will be it's regular price...$225 USD?
