NAVY
  • navywordoftheday
This is an acronym used by disgruntled sailors for "Never Again Volunteer Yourself". This theme can run true though your entire life. Some people will volunteer for everything that comes along. These people are the ones that want to take on every challenge and win each time. Other people only volunteer when they know they can make the best out of a situation. Then there is the third group, they remember, NAVY.

Even while serving in the Navy you will be asked again and again to volunteer for different things. Then just after you raise your hand you will realize how stupid it was to do so, somebody will say, NAVY to you.

The world is made up of different people, those who do and those who sit by and watch. Volunteering is not a bad thing, just know you limits.

Alas, "Never Again Volunteer Yourself" is the mantra now in the Reserves... its been used up to the bone... my medical/health unit was 120+, dwindled to 30 post-deployment, was merged with 3 other units to bring manpower to 140 again... a year later, down to 90. They had to increase for the third time enlistment bonuses (also for Os). Many veterans are coming back from deployment and just put in the VTU (no pay billets) so they cant retire with full pay.Oh well!

We have something similar in the Army. The "U.S. Army" tape on our blouse stands for "Uncle Sam Ain't Released Me Yet" or backwards "Yes, My Retarded A$$ Signed Up". The Marines (USMC) are, of course, "Uncle Sam's Misguided Children"! Sorry, couldn't resist. Jim

I am trying to keep the Marines out of this, even though they are part of the Navy, they just don’t like to admit it.
