Modelerswarehouse.com is kicking off their new product line with a very interesting product, Warpigs Weathering Pigments.
Artists have used pigments for centuries, not only to create various types of paint, but as dry powders and tonal washes. In fact, the earliest form of art using earth pigments dates back 30,000 years to Native Americans, having used earth colors to stain leather and hides, and mixed with boiled-down animal grease to create rudimentary paints. Modelers have used various forms of dry powders, pastels, and ground-up chalks for years as a means of conveying weather, wear and tear, and corrosion to their models.
Warpigs pigments are manufactured using the highest quality mineral colors available today, mined from the quarries in the Luberon Mountains of France. The new line features 25 different colors of pigments, finely ground to 50 microns, to ensure consistency. Each jar of Warpigs comes in a 20ml screw-top jar with a clear top, so you can tell at a glance what the contents are.
The pigments can can be applied dry, mixed with Titanium White paint (acrylic or mineral-based), or suspended as a wash or filter. When properly mixed, they can also be sprayed through an airbrush for that perfectly-dusted look. These pigments can also be mixed to achieve an endless variety of colors to suit your modeling needs. These pigments are non-toxic, made up of various minerals found in nature, and all MSDS sheets are available on the company website.
Each 20ml jar is $6.50 USD. Discounts are available for distributors (minimum orders apply).
