Osprey Publishing is starting the new year off with a bang by offering four new New Vanguard naval titles for pre-order on their website. These new books cover a broad spectrum of subjects from sailing ships to World War II battlewagons. All four books list for 7.99GBP each. That’s around $12.00 each in US dollars.

First up in this grand offering is the Tudor Warships (2), Elizabeth I’s Navy. In this book, naval expert Angus Konstam covers the transformation of the Tudor fleet during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I.
Contents of this 48 page book include:
Introduction • Design & Development • Operational History • Armament • The Tudor Fleet in Action • Bibliography • Color Plate Commentary • Index

The second new title Kriegsmarine Coastal Forces covers minesweepers, torpedo boats, patrol boats, and blockade breakers, all valuable to Germany during World War II. Also included in these forces was Hitler’s yacht, the Ostwind, which is also covered.

Next in line is British Battleships 1939–45 (1) Queen Elizabeth and Royal Sovereign Classes. At the outbreak of war, ten of the Royal Navy’s battleships were over 20 years old. This book will take the reader on the journey of these old dreadnoughts as they are modernized and forced back into action in defense of the crown.

Lastly, Osprey brings us the tale of a little known combatant in the book Kriegsmarine Auxiliary Cruisers. These wolves in sheep’s clothing struck as much fear in Allied convoys as the Graf Spee and the u-boats. This book looks at the specifications and designs of the 11 Auxiliary Cruisers, as well as their combat histories, their eventual fates, and the careers of some of the most famous commanders.
