Tamiya have announced the release of their upcoming accessory set - the 1/350th Degaussing Cable Set .
Please join me in viewing the current image of this impending set.
The expected release date is mid February (gosh thats right now) and the suggested retail price is approximately US$15.00.
We will update you on this set as and when we have more detail.
Purpose of a Degaussing Cable
A ship on the ocean is in essence a large metal object which can disturb the magnetic field around it. A non contact mine can sense this magnetic field disturbance and can trigger itself often very close to the ship. In order to counter this a degaussing cable is looped around the inside or outside of the ships hull. An electric current is selected and then run through the cable to compensate for the ships magnetic field thereby preventing the mine detecting the magnetic field disturbance when the ship is close.
