You may recall an announcement from Greg Anderson of Ozmods circa January 2004 that they were working on a 1/350th Majestic aircraft carrier project, for HMAS Melbourne and HMAS Sydney.

It was planned at that stage to release the following:

  • Standard Majestic Class carrier (HMAS Sydney etc)
  • Modified Majestic Class carrier (HMAS Melbourne)
  • Collossus Class Carrier (HMAS Vengeance, Arromanches etc)

The kitsets were to include aircraft, detailed hangar deck, photoetch and the options of full hull or waterline, elevators up or down.

Greg Anderson of Ozmods has now announced that the complete project has
now been passed on to Darren Scannell and Fred Bustard at The Resin Shipyard in Ontario, Canada.

We understand that the folks at The Resin Shipyard have long wanted to do the Canadian Majestic, Bonaventure. We also understand that the work undertaken by Ozmods is now on its way to Ontario, Canada.

It is also our understanding that OzMod's arrangement with The Resin Shipyard is that they will take over the entire project and initially produce the Canadian Bonaventure, which will then be followed by producing the Royal Australia Navy’s Melbourne and Sydney for supply to OzMods.

Please note that it is expected that it may still be another two years or longer before the first vessel is released.

As stated by Greg Anderson and I quote:

“ With Darren and Fred now in control of the project, at last I have confidence that the Majestic carriers are one their way!”

We will of course update you as and when more information comes to hand.
