Please join me in welcoming Gunthwaite Miniatures to the Model Shipwrights family.

This UK based company currently specializes in creating 1/72nd scale miniatures in white metal for modellers and collectors alike.

The original intention of the company was to attempt to fill a gap in the market by producing 1/72nd scale figures of naval personnel to accompany Fleet Air Arm aircraft models.

More by accident than design, the emphasis of our first releases was British and Commonwealth Sailors generally.

Planned future releases include aircrew and groundcrew (Fleet Air Arm and Royal Air Force) and a further expansion of their range of sailors.

We understand that Gunthwaite Miniatures are in a literal sense a cottage business. Their main interest arises from modelling as opposed to producing, marketing or selling. Consequently, they do not sell direct.

However, Gunthwaite Miniatures are available from Halifax Modellers World and ABC Models details of which are on the Gunthwaite Miniatures website.

We understand that the nature of their business is that the production of figures is likely to be intermittent and therefore from time to time specific figures may be out of stock pending the production of new castings.

Work is in hand to expand the range of figures and additions to the Gunthwaite range will be released in due course, probably spring 2010.

Take a look at the attached images of some of their product range and I believe the description “outstanding” is not very far from being an accurate description.
