Please join me in extending a very warm welcome to SeaPhoto Maritime Photography to the Model Shipwrights family.

This Grass Valley, California, based company owned by Mr. Kurt A. Greiner is a great resource for ship modelers, enthusiasts, researchers, and indeed anyone who requires close up, detailed photography of modern warships and other maritime subjects.

It is a common tale that a hobby can become a business andSeaPhoto Maritime Photography started as an adjunct to Kurt’s hobby of building large scale, radio controlled warships.

As Kurts collection of images grew over a number of years he wondered if other people might be able to use these images. This is exactly how the idea for SeaPhoto Maritime Photography was born.

Primarily photographic print orientated as opposed to digital I did personally enjoy Mr. Kurt A. Greiner’s insight:
"As a ship modeler myself, I like to scatter them about the workbench, re-arranging as needed, and find digital information more cumbersome to use. "

SeaPhoto Maritime Photography has a very unique niche in its emphasis on detailed photo sets at a reasonable price.

They have a lot of images of ships that are no longer in service, or even in some cases, sunk or broken up.

There are number of important matters to highlight about the service and products available from SeaPhoto Maritime Photography as outlined below:

  • They have a quality grading system in their catalog;
  • Sets are rated based on their average quality; there may be higher or lower grade individual pictures in larger sets;
  • They do offer a few CD's, but the mainstay of the business is still traditional photographic prints;
  • All 4 X 6" SeaPhoto Maritime Photography prints are priced at .75 cents per picture, and are grouped in sets of between 1 and 37 photos. Most sets average around 18 to 24;
  • The photo sets are made to order and are not returnable;
  • All SeaPhoto Maritime Photography sets are printed on quality, high gloss Kodak or Fuji Photo paper. All photos are Color, 4" X 6" (sometimes known as Jumbo) prints done from original negatives. The processing is done at a professional color lab;
  • All photo sets are made to order, so please allow 2 to 4 weeks for delivery;
  • Single Photo Enlargements are available otherwise because of the large number of photographs offered by SeaPhoto Maritime Photography (now well over 10,000 negatives, and climbing each year), and the fact that it is a one man operation, some method was needed to organize the pictures into manageable groups to reduce the time needed to process each order. Therefore sets of images are available and single normal sized photos are not normally available.

There is one crucial factor I would like to highlight and I quote Mr. Kurt A. Greiner “SeaPhoto is a small business, but I believe in big service“
