Imperial Hobby Productions has of late been very quiet in the release of any ship kits however they have just released their 1/700th USS Montana BB67.

We understand that the kit is based on our all-new tooling for the Montana. Wea lso understand that the kitset will allow the builder to make a complete Montana from the box and even allows for some variation in AA and radar fits. The kit can, of course, make use of the many aftermarket parts and parts sets available.

Additional information:
Kits are being made to order (allow 3-4 weeks for delivery) and production will be limited.
No PE or brass barrels are included, but Imperial Hobby Productions have a limited supply of Tom's Modelworks USN WW2 BB PE sets and some of Imperial Hobby Productions 16in brass gun barrels on hand from previous production runs. Ask about these items when ordering and Imperial Hobby Productions can supply these if you need them as long as stocks lasts.

We understand that the kitset will feature the following:


  • Length: 16 inches (406mm);
  • All major parts included to build a Montana-class ship;
  • Detailed resin waterline hull;
  • Detailed resin superstructure and funnels;
  • Resin 16in and 5in Turrets and 16in gun barrels;
  • Resin 20mm gun deck emplacements (for optional later AA fits);
  • Resin parts: 40mm guns, 20mm guns, gun tubs, directors, radars;
  • Metal parts: Curtiss Seahawk aircraft, 5in/54cal barrels;
  • Real Chain for Anchor Chains, plastic rod for masts.

I think there might be a typo. I don't think Mike would charge $1,500 for a 1/700 kit!

Hi Bob Yes Bob you are indeed correct there was a typo its not US$1,500.00 it is in fact US$155.00. Thanks for taking the time to raed the story and for pointing that out my friend. I have corrected the news story accordingly. To everyone sorry about that mistake its either too much coffee or too little coffee whilst sitting at the news desk. Cheers Sean
