Aoshima brings us double the sting with two new 1/350 PT boat kits. Featuring both early and late war boats, these kits offer the modeler a host of diorama possibilities.
Aoshima's first PT offering is the 1/350 PT Boat PT-109 kit. The 1/350 kit features full and water-line options along with two 1/700 early war PT boats. Retail price for this 4 boat set will be $24.89 and is due out this November.

Aoshima's second PT set is of the late war PT-132 from the Battle of Surigao Strait fame. This set also includes a 1/350 PBY Catalina to spot the enemy for your two late war mosquito boats. As with the PT-109 kit, retail price will be $24.89 and is due out in December.

Well, if anything they are 'cute'. Not too hard to scratchbuild thinner masts and a 37mm gun here or there...,or some depth charges aft.... Pleased they didnt provide huge billboard white lettered PT 109 for the bows....oh wait, maybe thats coming.....now where is the Shigure???? okay okay I am leaving.....

Thet do look like pretty neat little kits, although I am note sure about the logic of putting two different scales in one box. Catalina bundled with the later, quite a good idea, although i would have thought putting one or two boats in a box, same scale& marketing the catalinas seperately would make more sense. Si

Certainly this should be nice, but 25bucks seems pretty steep, or am I out of perspective? Guido

You might want to consider the view of Al Ross, noted author, modeler, and expert on PTs: "...these are crude and toy-like, bordering on cartoonish. The hull shape is wrong and the details are grossly out of scale. Compare them with WEM's kits in both scales and PT Dockyard's kits in 1/600 and you'll see what I mean."
