Pit-Road has announced a trio of ship kits to be released this fall. These subjects will cover ships from the JMSDF and the Japanese Coast Guard.
First up is the 1/700 Japanese Maritime Defence Force Akizuki (DD-161). The kit represents one of two modified Fletcher class destroyers built in Japanese shipyards as part of the United States 1957 Military Aid Program. Both ships were designed with a long forecastle hull and served as flotilla leaders for senior officers. While the kit has been released previously, the new boxing includes a photo etch fret.
Release of the kit is scheduled for late September of 2011. Retail price of this Cold War anti-submarine warrior is listed as $42.00
Following the Akizuki, Pit-Road is also releasing one one, but two Japan Coast Guard vessels, the Tsugaru class Chikuzen and the Hateruma class Hakata. These kits come pre-painted with the option of full or water-line hulls.
Release of these kits is scheduled for late September of 2011. Retail price for these kits is listed as $42.00 each.
