This is a first look review for Lion Roar’s new set 1/700 IJN Ship Windows.

The Set

There are four different styles included on the window fret.

Styles 1, 2, and 3 are each just a little different in size. Each one is just a little different in size compared to the next one. There are 182 of each size included on the fret. Each window consists of the frame and water guard.

The detail on these is nicely done with the water guard standing out as compared to the rest of the window. With there being three different sizes you will be able to stretch this set to more than one type of ship. Carriers, destroyers, Marus, and most other Japanese whips will benefit from these. The only draw back is you will have to know which size would go where. The difference in size is hard to make out with the naked eye, but it is there.

Style 4, which are only used on Heavy Cruisers. These come with the covers for the portholes. There are 96 of this style so you should have enough for your build.

This set of window covers will really dress up your heavy cruisers builds. It will do away with those small blank windows. You will be able to leave them open or folded into the closed position.

Nice looking set to add another layer of detail to your builds. These are tiny so care should be taken when working with them.
Highs: Nice set for details your small IJN ships.
Lows: Tiny! Beware the carpet monster.
Verdict: Nicely done and won’t break the bank.
