Intro…

We all like to make our builds looks more realistic. Sometimes the plastic details just do not capture the real life details. Sometimes resin kits are missing some details all together. Never fear, there are many sets out there to help you make your builds pop.

The Set…

There are 11 different types of cable reels on the fret. From the smallest reel all the way up to the big hand cranked set. As you can see from the photos the detail goes right down to the teeth on the sides of the cable reels.

Each side of the reels has the spokes nicely etched out and the relief detailing on each style is present. As you grow in size for each set the size of the side wheels increases as does the support cradle. Not only that but the spoke detail on the wheels changes for each different style.

LionRoar is taking a new step while making their sets. They are placing thin sheets of clear plastic on both sides of the fret. This is a very nice new detail and keep you from loosing arts to the carpet monster. Plus this allows the attachment points to be thinner and easier to cut. There is also a small plastic rod for you to put in your reels.

Thoughts…

Even though plastic kits are reaching levels of detail never seen before using the after market reels is a good way to ratchet up your build. Also, do not be afraid to get these to add to your builds. They are actually easy to use and it will make your build that much better.

SUMMARY
Highs: Top notch etching. Variety of different reels to use on your ship.
Lows: Even though they are 1/350, my eyes still have a hard time with them.
Verdict: Very good way to spiff up your build. Good value for the money.
