The detail set comes inside a flip top box. Inside you will find an instruction booklet, 12 frets of PE, 20 turned brass barrels, and 33 resin parts.
PE...
The PE is silver in color and finely done. There are two separate frets of railings and 11 others with detail parts for your ship.
Fret A...
There are two of these for the ships railings. The railings are the correct style for a German cruiser. There are three bar railings, two bar railings, and single with two chain railings. Also on these two frets are vertical ladders and support braces.
Fret B...
Here are sections for the ships smaller guns. There are splinter shields for the AA guns and detail parts for some of the smaller guns.
Fret C...
This fret holds many of the really small parts for the ship. Porthole covers, gun details, ammo boxes, crane parts, and small brackets.
Fret D...
There are many different areas represented here. Deck sections for the AA guns. Details for the catapult. Cable reels and more port hole covers.
Fret E...
Here are some of the larger parts in the set. Replacement deck sections are present along with several of the gussets.
Fret F...
The interior of the plane hanger along with several other support braces are here.
Fret G...
Accom Ladders, boat davits, and radar are found here. Since these will replace plastic parts be careful removing them, they are very fine!
Fret H...
This fret hold the many louvers that are present on the main deck of the ship. Since these are totally missing from the plastic, these will be a major addition to your build.
Fret I...
Details for the ships boats, funnels, and replacement rails for the 02 level. The replacement railings are going to be very tricky. First you must cut off the plastic parts, then replace them with the PE. The PE is tiny and fine, so this will be a very important step in the project. Take your time and stay away from the coffee when doing this.
Fret J...
Watertight doors, porthole covers, ladders, and other small items. The doors look great as do the covers.
Fret K...
Details for the planes, guns and some railings. The planes will be a small project of them selves. The plastic parts will be 100% replaced by this set. The PE items will really make them better, but will once again require a steady hand.
Resin Parts...
The resin parts are replacements for the ships planes, cranes, boats, and view finders. They will make a good improvement for their corresponding plastic parts as well.
Turned barrels
The kit includes replacement barrels for the main 8 in guns as well and the 4.1 in secondary gun. They are done nicely and will make good replacements for the kits plastic parts.
Instructions...
It seems that lately I have loved many kits, but really disliked the instructions. There are no railing locations given or even suggested lengths for the railings. Some parts are not given final locations on the model. Some locations given are general and not specific.
Final Thoughts...
This set will beef up the look of your Prinz Eugen build. Make sure to have plenty of references available. If you are new to PE, try to refine your skills a little before you try to tackle this one.
You will need to also pick up some small plastic rods for your build as well. You will nee 0.3 mm dia rods for this.
I am happy to have this set as I have been waiting to take my build of the Prinz from regular to special.
SUMMARY
Highs: Helps add details missing from the plastic.Lows: Instructions are spotty.Verdict: This set will for sure make your project really POP!

You should be able to use them together. There are differences between them and they should work well together. As to which is better? I cannot comment on that. Seeing pictures of a set it is hard to determine which is better.
