Thanks Mate.

I have to say I am very pleased with this one, straight out of the box, and a really enjoyable kit.

A few more cable reels, boats, foremast, railings and rigging to be added.

then

Time.

Cheers

Si.

PS, if you fancy a resin ship, cannot recommend this one enough, have a second in the stash, might even go for a third to cover all the AA fits, and a pure minesweeper, with no A/S on one of them.

ooo-I think I'd better have a go at reducing that stash before any more additions at this stage. Mrs E may have a word or 2 to say about it otherwise

Know exactly what you mean Mate,

Mrs Duster is quite understanding, but even she has her limits

Best get building then.

Thanks Ned,

The quality of the etch and resin in the kit really help, and the design.

Thanks for looking, and hyour kind comment.

Thanks Mark,

appreciate you looking.

I know I am playing an old record, but this would make a good first resin kit, as it is complete, and has very good instructions.

Its looking great Si though that's no surprise given your track record. I'm tempted to get one of these though I am trying to be disciplined like Russ and reduce the stash not add more. Maybe if I can finish a flattop

Today's progress.

The paintwork on the boats done.

And fitted.

Work on the Mast.

The kit provides plenty of two thicknesses of brass rod, and reasonably deep holes to locate the mast and it's two support struts.

Starting with the support struts.

And then the mast itself.

The mast was left in its' locating holes until it the glue had cured.

Then take out and the crow's nest, and yard arms fitted.

Now ready for spraying.

Finally for today, the anchors fitted in place.

Nice touch that the brass masts. I think a few other resin manufacturers could copy Starling on this. The Algerine is looking very sharp.

Thanks Michael,

I am a great fan of brass for masts. Nice of the Manufacturer to provide all the needful in the box too.

Thanks Jan,

It is that, and Starling have a River class Frigate coming next. Which I am also looking forward to.

Nice to have a kit of such a hard worked and under represented type of vessel as a minesweeper kitted.

Today's progress.

The quarter deck done.

One mistake I made, didn't think about rigging early enough, the funnel stays would have been a lot easier to fit straight after I put the funnel on.

The mast painted and fitted.

Rigging and railings next.

Cheers

Beautiful little boat and great work, Si!

Well, with the stays and stuff like that, always a difficult call - too early and you run danger destroying them, too late and you get in trouble installing them...however, you managed and they look pretty cool!

You are right there Jan,

I don't know about making it look cool, The language coming out of the workshop whilst I was trying to fit the stays without dislodging the boats was a bit to say the least.

This is such a great little kit of such an interesting and underrepresented ship type I couldn't resist diving in, and I am enjoying very minute of this build. (except some of the bits caused by my own lack of planning.

Thanks for looking and your kind comments Jan.

Cheers

Si

Great stress release though I find in using while fiddling with the unexpected awkward bits. Good luck with the rest of the rigging.

Thanks Michael,

It was a help, all the boats stayed in place, which was a plus.

will post the pics of the rest of the rigging shortly.
