The rigging,
She is a small ship, so very simple.
Signal halyards on the mast.
Stays on the mast, the are painted light grey, wire standing rigging used to be coated in white lead & tallow to protect it.
The aerial runs.
They need to be connected up, but more study required.
An overview.
Aerial connections, railings, a couple of cable reels and then commissioning.

Hi Tim,
I will confess I haven't got that far, I am planning to have her at Southern Expo model show weekend after next, so she may be sat on the roll of masking tape for that.
I may have time this weekend to knock something up prior to commissioning, as they say, watch this space.

I have to say, I'm envious of you guys there in UK and US! So many model shows throughout the year... We get one main one each year in June. It falls on the same weekend as my wedding anniversary for which Mrs E and I always go away for the weekend, meaning going to the show is a well, divisive topic

We are lucky, certainly over here, the shows tend to have a good mix of clubs displaying, traders and usually a completion too.
I have to be careful about Southern Expo, nowhere near as serious, but usually falls around my son's birthday.

Looks good SI. Have you ever used lyrica thread for rigging? Love the stuff, very thin, easily glues, stretches easy, and looks to scales on most 1:350, haven’t tried in 1/700 yet but I assume it look just as good. I’m by no means a rigging master either, so anything to make it easier for me. Just cut and glue. Never could do the stretches sprue thing.

I did try Lyrica thread, but I could not make it work for me, especially around etched spreaders and supports, and even finer plastic yard arms. I know the Copper wire is over scale and a bit clunky, but I can make it work.
I agree with you regarding stretched sprue, could never get enough straight enough, fine enough or long enough.
The great thing about our hobby is that there is more than one way to solve most problems, and that we share ideas on sites like this.

That Norman, is likely what I was doing wrong, stretching it too tight and too soon. I will have another go.
I don't think I am alone in liking a material or a technique beating me.

Here we go, the final push.
At this stage, as usual, it is rigging and railings!
I am not sure this connection to the aerials is correct for this vessel, but this is what I could find the clearest pictures of.
I give you J387, HMS Sylvia, Algerine class Minesweeper / escort.
Final bits on, and two commissioning's in one day, that is a first for me.
A great kit of an under valued class ship, thanks to mike McCabe and Starling Models for producing it.
looking forward to the River class frigate, and Mike, can we have a Halcyon class minesweeper too.

Looks awesome Si, and yeah I had a bit of learning curve to do with it until I read on another site (wish I could remember site and author to give them credit) about this tip. I hate when I have something defeat me. Bothers my ocd. This is a neat little kit.

I know what you mean about the ocd Norman, there will be a project that the copper wire won't work for, and at that point I will have to conquer the stretchy string.

It is a great little kit. I am itching for Starling's next release, which is a River class Frigate. As soon as I get my hands one of those and I have an empty slipway, it iwill be on here.

As everybody already said, fine job done and that's really something very special you commissioned here, beautiful kit and model of a very much underrated ship - and class/type of ship in general, very few minesweepers, escorts etc. on the marked (at least in 1/350).

First double commissioning, and with the upcoming projects it will be a while before the next one.
Great kit, all power to Mike McCabe and the Starling crew for such a great kit, I hope soon to have my manky little paws on the upcoming River class Frigate, multiple purchases of that may well be in order.

Close mate, very close indeed, right ship, but not quite that big.
1/144 Flower class corvette, along with the L'Arsenal weapons & boats upgrade, and a neat little etched set from Starling models.
