great to see you back at the bench mate!
I've had a bout of pneumonia
and a stint in hospital
and now I've finally recovered to the point of being able to catch up with all the goings on over here at the MSW dockyards!
great progress so far mate!

Hi Russ,
Sorry to hear you were Hors de combat, sounds a bit nasty, glad you back in one piece and on the board.
My workshop isn't functioning, it is bit of dumping ground as we are getting ready to have the garage converted into a utility room / downstairs toilet & larger workshop / office for me, so my current workspace is about 18" by 14", which makes the trawler an ideal size.
It is a great little kit, I will do more weathering than usual on this one as these were hard worked little ships.

Another in the Si fleet, nice to see something a little different. Pretty small though, going great for such tiny model.

I do like oddities, especially smaller craft. this is a seriously good little kit, not cheap, but no need for after market, unless figures are to be added.
Got a bit further today, haven't got the pictures off the camera yet, update in the next few days.

Been a bit of a busy week, but made a bit of progress last Sunday, finally found a couple of minutes to post.
The main superstructure unit, the etch going on.
rails around and ladders around the 20mm platform in place.
The resin vents and galley funnel in place, and test fitted.
With a bit of luck will get some colour on that tomorrow and maybe get a few more bits done.

Finally, a little time at the bench last Sunday.
The main superstructure given a coat of paint.
The kit comes with two very nicely cast 16' dinghies, only one required, The other will no doubt find a home.
The superstructure down, along with the platform for the boat.
Boat & davits fitted, along with the after platform, did damage the railing around the 20mm platform, but I have some left over splinter padding to hide that.

Hi Russ & Mark,
They were tiny little things, but they played an important role as minesweepers, two of the class, Sur Galahad & Sir Lancalot were used a Danlayers, marking the swept channels approaching the beaches on D-Day, some of the bigger converted trawlers were used as escort vessels particularly in the waters of the Arctic and North Atlantic.
I am seriously considering picking another one up and seeing what photographs I can find of the minesweeping and danlaying outfits for a conversion project.

I am having "fun" getting weathering right, she needs to well used, but not beaten up, the crews were mostly drafted from deep sea fishermen, the skippers given temporary commissions, not spit & polish Navy men.

A bit better organised this week, here is yesterday's update.
The funnel with Gaff and mast assembly fitted, along with the base of the liferaft racks.
racks finished, just need a coat of paint.
Ladders from the gun deck and fo'c's'le to the main deck, the one from the gundeck was a tight squeeze.
basic paint job on the bridge components.
The bridge components test fitted.
detailing going on the compass platform.
not much more add except a little more weathering.
more next weekend... with a bit of luck.
