Its time for another update, I have installed the ladder going into the ships hold, the new cap rails and the scratch built windlass which replaces the metal kit part.

If you look at the pictures closely you may be able to see the scrolls I have sculpted on to the ends of the cap rails... I think this adds some elegance to the ship. I will take better pics when they are finished with paint.

The ships boat was a small kit in its self it came with the hull, rudder, keel and seating area, I added the planks at the bottom on the inside and the ribs for extra detail.

Ahoy Robert!

Lookin' good, mate...again, good choice on the windlass replacement, yours looks much more true...I wish that I could see the scrolls, my eyes just aren't what they used to be!

Love the ships boat, the added detail really makes her look so much better...thanks for the update!

Keep Modeling!

I think in this photo you can get an idea of what the scrolls look like they still need to have a final sanding and than they will be painted black to match the rest of the moulding.

Thanks Murdo i really like building the scratch stuff and making improvements. Should someone want to build this kit there is no reason you would have to make any of the changes i made, you can save hours of work if left out of the box. Thanks again Mark, i will try to take better photos next time.

It's time for a new update, in the first pic you can see most of the new details added like the gun mounts, and railings just to name a few, also i have added the new upper hull color yellow ochre this will be the final color for the upper hull with some touch ups, the lower white color will be replaced with tallo an off white with a touch of yellow in it. In the second pic you can see one of the metal pumps that has been replaced by the scratch built wood ones. The last pic shows some of the details added to the bow and the cut out for the bowspirit which is in the process of construction now.

Thanks Mark so far i am enjoying the build, as you can see from the pics some of the paint work is a little sloppy but this will all be fixed before the final pictures are taken. I am now working on the bowspirit this will be the most difficult part so far, looking at the plans the bowspirit starts out square than changes over to an octagon shape and than circular this should be interesting.

Rob, fabulous work on the scratch vs. white metal. Your up-date really captures the way these vessals looked in that era. Bravo!!!!!!!!! The build is comming along nicely.

Time for a small update, in the first pic i added most of the wood near the bow attached to the stem post that top piece was a real paine to get that bend correct, a little to the left you can see the 4 dead eyes added in black, the second pic shows the ships boat with a rudder handle, coiled rope and 2 of the 4 oars i made.

Hi Robert!

It sure is a interesting wooden ship - and comming along very neat!
I would suggest a different brown colour (darker) for the handles on the mortar gunnery, since they would be made of a different wood.
Keep up the good work and please post your updates

Thanks Murdo i am glad you like it, Thanks Rui i am not shore what to do with the handles yet i think they may be a little big and out of scale if they stay wood i will paint them more in a dark oak color, i may cut them off and replace them with black wire instead, the plans show 4 different styles of handles for the guns some in wood some very thin like they may be iron like the guns.
