Hi all.

Well, I've gone and done it.

I made the plastic Airfix kit of the HMS Victory when I was a little un, I've always fancied doing a wooden version.
At the LHS I noticed one on special offer which brought it within reach of my wallet and with Pete Vill's influence I got it cheaper still.

It's a Mamoli 1/150 plank on frame. I think this will be a very long SBS, knowing me a 2 to 3 year one

So if you don't mind me hanging around I'll update you when I've got going.

All the best

Vic

PS. There's a lot moreparts to it than shown, I just didn't lay them all out!

Looks like a good kit Vic lots of detail that should keep you busy for a while, and all that rigging looks like fun. I will be following along on this build.

Hey Rob, you and your builds have got to take your share of the blame for getting me into this.
I've enjoyed watching what you've done.

Take it steady

Hi Vic!!

The quality of the models parts is really impressive! It is definetly a good start and a motivator to see it slowly get shape!
Surely you'll have a good audience!

Hello
My Dad built that kit a few year's ago. I can remember it took him over a year as he built other things as well. I'll have a look in my old picture's to see if I can find 1 of it when he finnished it. It build's into a very impressive & heavy ship if I remember right. He loved building things from wood (real building as he called it) He was very impressed with the kit .My Dad sold his so i cant take any more pictures of it. He was part way through building a Spanish man of war by the same company when he passed away. Still sitting on the wardrobe at my Mum's.
Hope you have as much fun building it as my Dad did.

I'm sure most of us will enjoy watching you build it almost as much a you will building it. I ent the easy way. I bought an inexpensive smaller version of the ship to admire. I just don't like fooling with rigging.

Good luck Vic

Hi redshirt, I think it's a bug that could bite pretty hard the worst bit is the price tag on these kits and I've noticed mine is one of the cheaper ones even when it's full price.
If I start saving now I might be able toafford the next one by the time I finish it

Hi Steve, thanks for your interest.
I've also got a smaller cheaper version but the photos are on my computer at work. I'll post them here tomorrow.

Ah ha, hello Mr Vill.

Mad he says, and this from the bloke who built 4 type XIII's just to show the development it went through.
Excellent work but guess who was wiping the dribble from his chin

Pete, see you in the morning my friend.

Hi Steve,

May be if the victory had the 95th with rifles instead of Marines with muskets they might have got the sniper before he got Nelson eh.

Hi Jesper, fancy seeing you here, great minds think alike eh

It does seem to be a nice kit but then you look at the 5 foot long ones priced at £700 GBP and they're in a different league. I better learn to walk before I run though eh.

Have you decided on a ship ?

Here's the photo of my mini Victory I said I'd post.
It's meant for war gaming. A guy I work with showed me the website and I ended up buying one.

I might actually get a chance to start my wooden build tonight.

Seems to be something in the air. I'm building the Mantua/ Panart 1:78 Victory and am doing the standing rigging at the moment. Just got to keep telling myself. "It will be worth it in the end"
