Working on my Coast Guard lifeboat I need to come up with something to make the "glass" windshield. The kit has the windscreen up, with three windows across, each window maybe 8 mm by 5 mm. Any suggestions for some material I can use to simulate the glass for the windows?

Small windows can be "filmed" by using --"Clear-fix"......dip a stick into it with enough to cover hole by smearing it on ..just as you would spread a bubble.....this should leave a film on the "window " ..repeat 2-3 times as each layer dries --and build up to what you require
Used it many times ....on small areas..aircraft windows (when I have lost "glass" parts ) and windows up to 2cm square..just make sure there is enough "depth" and it will stay forever ...have a window on a 1/35 Scammell that is still ok after 10 years.
Use as a fixing on clear parts --it dont show when dry .
Contact me if more help required on the application

Thanks for the tips guys.
Steve, do you happen to know what they call "clear-fix" on my side of the pond?

I use clear styrene which I am pretty sure came from Evergreen. I've used it of course in 35th armor also 48th scale tanks and aircraft and 72nd scale PT boats and even a bit on a couple of my 350 ships (the Nimitz comes to mind)

I've seen that stuff at Hobby Lobby. I may try it with the 40% off coupon this week.
Thanks to all.

Ive used Micro Glaze in the past which I think is a lot like the Clear Fix stuff. It's great , but can be brittle when used in larger panes. I've offered to send Jarhead 98 some acetate for his props I could send you some for your windshield if you like. I have a whole stinking roll of it and it would be no trouble. If won't work, well you can save it for something else.
Let me know, I'd be more than happy to do so.

I'm pretty sure I've got some acetate around the house from an old craft project of my wife's. If I can't find it I'll shoot you a PM.
Thanks.
I'll probably try a few different methods until I find one I like.

Boy do I remember clear acetate. I used to be a division level S-2 in my reserve unit and doing acetate sheets of terrain analysis and OPFOR deloyments for all the CPX's we conducted all over the East Coast, man we used 50 lb rolls of that stuff like rolls of toilet paper in a public facility.
