Hey Frank,

For the situation report...10+ days in, and I'm still in the planning stage. Trying to break it up into seperate assemblies and wether to put the ship in some water from the keel up, not until after she's built.

I'm sitting at my comp and decided to see where every one is at. I have finished my USS Consolation for the no guns campaign and I'm working on the USS Cushing for the "Forgotten Sisters" campaign. Just getting some grey primer down on the hull and getting some info printed up for doing a water base. Also found out I'm a bit low on some paint so I may be off to the LHS soon. I haven't heard from every one yet so let me know how your coming along. Post any questions you have and I can promise that I or some other shipwrights will give an answer or put you on the right path.

James,

Glad to have you on board. If you have any questions just blurt it out and I promise someone will give you the best answer possible. Why don't you grab a kit and give the "Forgotten Sisters" campaign a try. This campaign is a little different from most as Harry over at Battle Fleet Models is providing a prize for the best build. Remember you can't win if you don't enter.

hello Frank,
i ran into a huge problem with the Lifeboat for no guns campaign.30% of the parts are way to big,not in mm but in inches, also way to small. so i put it on the back-burner till i figure it out. the instructions are also very bad.if you follow it you can not put half the stuff inside after they have you put the deck and compartments together. if i did not spend 60 bucks on it, the model, box, and instruction would have a meeting with a stick of dynamite. BOOM.lol's
i am restarting the destroyer Sunday, and hope to have some in build photo's soon.
i think i told you the wrong place to get the 1mm drill bit. it should be Micro-Mark.com
cheers,
Bruce

Bruce,
I checked out the site and now I have to decide on just the one bit or a set, I'll probibly get the set so I have all the sizes I may need. Right now I'm using the bits I had in my toolbox from when I ran CNC mill(most are a bit big for models).

HI Frank, Yes, its tempting to join, and not because of the prize (Im a rookie, doubt my build will be great!)... have the dragon 350 momsen (arleigh burke sister) but thats a project build... I have couple 1:700 waterline series IJN destroyers I was going to build at some point as "waterline" and learn how to do water... I need to start my Cold War Tin cans build, let me see how much plastic I can cut, paste and sand... whats the latest you can join the build?

I removed the Aztec stairs from the Wyoming. Waiting on some pictures of the Ms12 modified pattern to help with the paint scheme before moving forward.

For some reason I just dread removeing those darn molded on stairs. Ladders that are molded on,like on the mast, are pretty easy to remove. Stairs on the other hand tend to be in places that put your fingers and such in jepardy of being sliced. Some times I wear my leather work gloves while removeing stairs. A peice of advice to all, don't use your wood chisels to remove stairs, it hurts when the chisel slips...... not the smartest thing I have done.....

P.S.
With a little bit of self promotion......Happy B-day to me........the big 45

Well, Happy Birthday shipmate!

I am feeling like a youngster, only 40.

I am going to jump back on my build for this campaign. I finally got in my Etch Mate so I can start to work on the PE masts.

I need to start on my build for My Cold War Campaign. But I have time for that one.

Hey all,

Thanks for the well wishes. I did get some bench time in last night. I have much of the Cushing assembled and I'm about to start on the the GMM PE. This PE is great, made out of Stainlees, bends great and has enough strength so my old paws don't mash it too badly.

I don't believe everyone chimed in during the Sit Rep.....don't make me call in the MSW Shorepatrol....

Hey all,

I've made some progress. I just test fitted the ship to the water base, both still need some work but I am getting there.

The I-401 is still sitting in the box. I've been busy with Gator's so I haven't had much time for anything else.

Got the photos and airbrush the first coat of deck blue on the main deck last night. BTW, I use a micro chisel from Mission Models to remove the "Aztec" stairs. One of the best modeling tools I've ever bought!

Hey all,

Many did not know this but I was laid up in the hospital most of the week. I'm doing better now and I should be able to get back to the bench within a day or two. Lets here about your builds.

P.S. Thanks for the kudos on my first attempt at water.
