Hello, just wanted to share some info on my Tirpitz build (I hope to have pics later this weekend).
Since I am sure that China has not had any plastic shortages, I have NO IDEA why they would make one sprue in VINAL!!

Are you kidding me!?!?! Anyway, I tried working with the vinal Funnel, and found that shaving the seam line off of it was almost impossible. Then when I tried to fit the funnel to the deck, the vinal pegs made the whole thing "crawl" out of the locator holes. I finally cut those pins off, and am going to have to settle with trying to hide the problems under some paint. I'm really not looking forward to dealing with the vinal bridge tonight...
I am kind of wishing that I had a money tree, so that I could buy the Trumpeter Tirpitz, and only use the clear float planes, aux. boats and PE set from the dragon kit - and use the rest to find the melting point of vinal. In the future, I will look very closely at reviews before buying a ship from Dragon. (I still love their armor and figures!)

Hey Steve,
Dragon has corrected that faux-pas with their Bismarck and Arizona kits.

Good info to have, I am planning to buy a 1:700 Tirpitz in the near future, was being tempted by a dragon on sale for 18$USD (Arizona at 20$USD)
Steve, good luck with the rest of the vinyl, wish I had some secret tip to pass along ... would it be easier to sand instead of cut? Or use a Dremel, carefully? Many armor kits contain vinyl tracks.. i also found this link to a vinyl figure build, with some info on manipulating vinyl.

Buy the Trumpeter kit instead. It is, in my opinion, a better kit.

Hello,
Here is my contribution to the "Forgotten Sisters" Campaign:
Prince of Wales, Battle of Malaya, December 1941.
1/700 Scale. Tamiya, White Ensign Models photo-etch, Gold Medal Models figures.

The two "tiny" torpedos that made most of the damage to the ship are displayed at the bottom of the "HMS Prince of Wales" sign.

Cheers/

Christer,
Great build. I like how you depicted the smoke on the plane.

Here is my entry for the campaign. The IJN Yukikaze in her fnal WW2 configuration. Kit is by Hasegawa and is a really extraordinary kit. Well, I tried 4 times to paste it in and I don't know how to do it anymore. It is in my gallery if you want to look at it. It used to be put it in your gallery then hit copy then go to the reply and hit paste and that was all there was to it. I don't have a clue on how to do it now. If someone knows and can do it wonderful, if not you will have to go to my gallery to look and confirm I completed the campaign.

OK, with a list of new instructions for posting pix, I am going to try this again. I have completed the Hasegawa 350 scale Yukikaze for my sisters entry. It was a great kit and I really liked everything about it. Makes me real happy that I'll be getting that Nagato kit shortly as I've heard it is up to the same standard. So here is my photo of completed kit.
EDIT: KInd of tiny ain't it. So, I guess you'll have to hit my gallery for a bigger shot of it, but this is proof of building for the campaign.

Bruce that is the Yukikaze not the San Francisco. It is a fairly easy kit to build even with the PE. I think the San Fracisco will take a lot longer to build, though generally, Trumpeter kits are fairly well engineered and easy to build.
James this kit can be picked up on special for under $50 and maybe as cheap as $40. It is only about a foot long. It really is a fine looking kit. Many kudos to Hasegawa.
I usually only do one picture of something in my gallery as I am prone to entering a lot of campaigns both in ships and armor and need to save space for a photo of my project for them. If anyone is planning on building it and wants to see more photo's, they can always PM me and I will email you some more pictures

Good to hear you got her done. I will have to take a peek. I am going to be working on mine over the weekend. With any luck I can knock a good deal of her out and update my blog.

I have my ship sitting in a bath of easy off oven cleaner. Tomorrow I plan to take her out, give her a good cleaning, then start over with the painting Tuesday.
