James,

Thanks for comments and input. I actually thought about that slimy stuff (been around docks and piers, too). I experimented with using oil paint to simulate it and layered it on pretty thick to make it appear. Didn't look too good, sorta out of scale. So I may just apply a heavier wash of green and see how that works out.

It's been awhile since I uploaded some pics of my build:I've been busy. I've got a stepson graduating from High School and this time of year has been extremely hectic. I finally found some time to work on this dio.

I'm almost done. Still have some minor detail work and I need to clutter up the dock some more, but here is where I"m at.
